Time
and Talent Weekend: An
OLC Ministry Fair
On
November 15/16, 2003, Our Lady of the Chesapeake held a “Time and Talent Weekend”
displaying the many, diverse, Gospel-oriented ministries we have serving
our parish community.
If anyone has ever thought about contributing their time or talent to
one of our ministries, but never had the “right moment” to do so, this
was a chance to learn about the opportunities we offer at OLC. We
anticipate making this an annual event.
The
following ministries were represented at the "Time & Talent
Weekend:" the “Wellness Ministry;” the “Bereavement”
(funeral dinner) Ministry; and the “Elizabeth Ministry." Do you feel a calling to teach, or just be a 'helper' in our
Religious Education Program or Youth Ministry?
Would you like to grow in your spiritual life as a part of a LIFE
group? Been thinking about sharing your musical or singing talent and want
that big audition with our Music Ministry? Would you like to be a part of
our Nursery/Baby-sitting Co-op? Do you have lots of ideas and energy to
help our Fundraising Committee? Want to assist in our outreach to the poor
and homeless with the Saint Vincent DePaul Society? Explore options in
assisting at our liturgies as a Reader/Lector, Usher, Eucharistic
Minister, or Altar Server. Would you like to help prepare or decorate the
altar and sanctuary as a member of our Altar Society?
Representatives
from the above ministries were available in The
Gathering Place Banquet Hall to answer questions after each of the
liturgies on Saturday, November 15 and on Sunday, November 16 when
participants also were able to enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared and served by
the OLC Knights of Columbus.
“Lord,
when did we see you hungry and feed you; thirsty and give you something to
drink; or in need and help you? … I tell you the truth, whatever you did
for one of the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me.”
(MT 25:37-40)
