Pre-K Religious Education Program
As
parents, we know that our children have lots of energy and enjoy being
active--playing, singing, making crafts, and being in the company of other
children. We also know that trying to attend Mass with an active
toddler or preschooler can, at times, be quite a challenge. That is
why in late 2002, OLC staff members, parishioners and parents got together
to create the "Pre-K Religious Education Program."
The Pre-K Religious Education Program is organized to
provide a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 4 years old
during the 9:30am Sunday Mass; and for children aged 3 years old during
the 11:00am Sunday Masses.
How the program works…
- Parents are asked to volunteer some time in the Pre-K Religious
Education Program. In addition to parent volunteers, the Pre-K
Religious Education Program can also be supported by teen volunteers
(who can earn service hours) and other adult volunteers who wish to
assist. Anyone interested in volunteering for the 9:30am or
11:00am sections must be cleared through STAND training and undergo a
background check.
- A child may attend every Sunday at the Mass time for which he/she
has been signed-up (9:30am or 11:00am).
The Pre-K Religious Education Program generally follows the same
calendar (and hazardous weather cancellations) as the Religious Education
Program. Families may drop their child off 10 minutes prior to Mass with
pick-up no later than 10 minutes after the conclusion of Mass. The Pre-K
Religious Education Program is held in the "Maryland Room" of
the main church building.
9:30am Mass: 9:20am - 10:40am
11:00am Mass: 10:50am - 12:10pm
Parents need to sign-in their child and, at that time, are given a
special 'pick-up' card. Parents must return the card when they pick
up their child.
