LITURGY
MINISTRY
Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers are men
and women of the parish who assist the priest in distribution of the body
and blood of Christ at Mass and other liturgical services. In
addition, some Eucharistic Ministers take communion to the sick or
others unable to attend Mass. If you would like to become a
Eucharistic Minister, please call the Pastoral Center (410-255-3677) or
use our on-line Volunteer Form.
Readers/Lectors
The
function of the Reader is to effectively proclaim the Word of God during
liturgical celebrations. A Reader strives to present the Word of God with
clarity and distinction so that it is not just merely "read",
but fully understood by the listening Parish Community.
If you would like to be considered for the
Ministry of Reader/Lector, please call the Pastoral Center (410-255-3677)
or use our on-line Volunteer
Form.
Altar Servers
Altar servers are boys and
girls of the parish who assist the priest during Mass and other liturgical
services. Those wishing to be altar servers must be in the 4th
grade or above and able to attend one initial training session.
If your son or daughter would like to be an Altar Server, please call the
Pastoral Center (410-255-3677) or use our on-line Volunteer
Form.
Ushers
The Usher is usually the
first representative of the parish encountered by people coming to Mass.
Ushers serve the parish community by being a visible sign of
"welcome" to members of
the parish community and visitors alike. They greet people in the name of
the parish community and help to make them feel at home.
If you are interested in becoming an
usher, please call the Pastoral Center (410-255-3677) or use our on-line Volunteer
Form.
Altar Society
Members of the Altar Society
prepare the altar and church interior for masses as well as for weddings,
baptisms, funerals, and other special liturgical celebrations.
Additionally, they are responsible for cleaning the linens, crystal, and
other liturgical items used during Mass, ordering flowers and decorating
the church for Holy Days and special occasions, and ordering all
liturgical supplies such as candles, wine, etc. Their quiet presence is
often unnoticed, yet the results of their labors are visible to all the
parish community.
If you are interested in
becoming a member of the Altar Society, please call the Pastoral Center
(410-255-3677) or use our on-line Volunteer
Form.
