BAPTISM
|

|
"Therefore
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them
to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with
you always, to the very end of the age." MT 28:19-20

Holy Baptism is the basis
of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the
door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are
freed from sin and reborn as children of God; we become members of Christ,
are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in its mission.
Baptisms are
scheduled at one of the weekend Masses, or on a Sunday afternoon. Please
call the Pastoral Office Center (410-255-3677, extension 104) or Contact
Us for
availability of dates and times and to receive a Baptism Request
Form. You can also fill out the
Baptism Request Form on-line.
Additionally, parents of
children to be baptized are asked to attend a Baptism Preparation Program which is offered usually on the first Friday of the month at 7:00
pm (please note that there are no Preparation Programs and no Baptisms
conducted during the seasons of Advent and Lent). Please register for the program (and confirm the date) by calling (410-255-3677,
extension 104) or e-mailing the
Pastoral Office Center.
At
the liturgy of the
Easter Vigil, during the blessing of the baptismal water, the Church
solemnly commemorates the great events in salvation history that already
prefigured the mystery of Baptism. It is at this liturgy that adults who
have completed the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(RCIA) are
received into the Church.
